Forget about the start of the NFL season, first we gotta celebrate the finals of the Saucony O’s Office League with Circle Rules Football in Boston! Our Boston league leaders Shoebuy.com’s Shoebizzle and Sonicbids’ team Off in the Shower (really guys? that’s your team name!?) face off tomorrow night at Boston Common where Circle Rules Football inventor and coach and ref and buffalo wings eater Greg Manley will be leading the teams in this obscure sport. Part soccer, part football and part yoga, this game will be a fun one to watch. Especially with these two lovable and competitive teams. Come join us — 7pm at Boston Common!

Our final contest was a fun one since it entailed 3 contests - Four Square (which we excelled at), JAZZ (shorter version of basketball’s HORSE, which we did not excel at) and wrapped it up with a couple of good ol’ rounds of Dodgeball. In the end, we did well but not quite well enough for some trophy action this time around. Second place will have to do. Congrats to the Seattle Weeklies for the grand glory of the Championship. And kudos to my whole team for lots of well played fun times! Go Saucony!

In an unprecedented showing, the Mighty Walthomes stormed the Commons Tuesday evening and whipped some little girl’s butts at SPUD. No, seriously.

SPUD. We don’t know what it actually stands for…but we know how to kick some butt at it! Ok, so maybe the teams weren’t fair….but winning is not always about fairness. And we really, REALLY needed to win a game.
So when Maddy “watch out she’s vicious” Shedno opened the game with a 90 mile-an-hour kickball to the groin of the unsuspecting opponents, things got heated fast. Not to be shown up, Jeff “don’t call me Burrito” Benanto single-handedly took down a 110 lb girl with a kickball to the face.
Impressive showings were made by all that night (though there were whispers of the use of performance enhancers). MVP Justin Drake once again dominated and AJ Gosselin impressed with several catches and outs. Both Tara Malloy and Anna Dreyser racked up the points catching balls since the ‘announcer’ forgot to call their numbers. And Megan “yeah I just caught that with my face!” Prock managed to shrug off a viscous dog leash whipping to take down the other team.

Special nods to Zach for “switching teams” to ensure equal team numbers, the other team for being so cool and Jerome for playing team mascot for the night. Until next time…
