Defending Champs Bumbershoot Settle for 2nd Place

by bumbershoot - 09/11/09

Our final contest was a fun one since it entailed 3 contests - Four Square (which we excelled at), JAZZ (shorter version of basketball’s HORSE, which we did not excel at) and wrapped it up with a couple of good ol’ rounds of Dodgeball. In the end, we did well but not quite well enough for some trophy action this time around. Second place will have to do. Congrats to the Seattle Weeklies for the grand glory of the Championship. And kudos to my whole team for lots of well played fun times! Go Saucony!

Bumbershoot Doesn’t Win, But Doesn’t Suck.

by bumbershoot - 08/28/09

Simply put, SPUD is a fun game that most of us hadn’t played before. And although the Hot Dogs only won one of the 4 contests (big props to Mike G. and Amy M. for the face saving win), we kept it competitive throughout the contest. The Weekly came away with the overall win. So it’ll be quite a showdown for the big championship gathering next week!

Many said it couldn’t be done. Seattle WeekLings win the tournament? Certainly not! Four Square = won it! Way to hold ‘em off, Brian!

How to play Spud

by sweekly - 08/27/09

precursor to the game Throw up the ball, run like hell and try not to get hit.

spud

Seemed simple enough. We beat the tar out of the other teams for a couple games; let them win a couple. And at the end of it all, we’re still friends.

at the end of it all, we’re all friends

Tomorrow our Seattle Office League competes in its season championship — the ultimate playground tournament! Not content to leave the playoffs to a single game, we have KEXP, Bumbershoot, Easy Street Records and Seattle Weekly competing in three rounds of playground madness.

Round 1 - Four Square! This 15 minute lightning round of our favorite twee playground game will determine the order for the second battle which is…

Round 2 - JAZZ! It’s like HORSE but jazzier, like the Saucony Jazz of course.

And if there is a tie-breaker needed, or if everyone just can’t get enough, we’ll have a final Round 3 of DODGE BALL!

Bring your A-games Seattleites. Bumbershoot and Seattle Weekly may be in the lead right now, but tomorrow night we’ll see how it all comes down. 7pm at Cascade Playground - 333 Pontius Ave N. Celebratory tamales at Bandits after.
