Congratulations to MyOpenBar not only for being totally awesome because they always tell us where to get inebriated for free, but for becoming Chicago’s very FIRST Saucony Office Team Champions!!
The sun was bright on that beautiful Sunday in the spacious area that is Smith Park. Both Threadless & MyOpenBar came to WIN! Competition was tight during Tug of War, Egg Toss, Dizzy Bat & Three Legged Race. It came down to the last game- the wheelbarrow race in which MyOpenBar clinched the victory. WXRT & Venus Zine came out to play as well with WXRT allowing some local teenage boys to play on their team in order to win almost every game against Venus Zine.
After the games, teams headed to Old Oak Tap to revel or drown in free booze & great food!
We hope everyone had as much fun as we did this summer!!!! You’re ALL winners in our book!

Aesop ROCKED, Good Magazine was GOOD, Only one week left!

by Shirtless Tom

shirtless-tom-5.jpg

This past week was amazing. Aesop Rock was on point.
Sean’s photos are incredible.
Jelmer and Brandon were great as matching Olympic swimmers.
We had some special guests from northern California including the captain of the UCLA water polo team. Man, that kid had an arm.
This week is going to be the best ever. It has to be because it’s the last week ever!
BE THERE! YO LA TENGO!
Super Hero costumes encouraged, but you must have the courage to back them up on the court.
I urge everyone to check out http://www.bkdball.com/dball.html and keep up to date.

Rain, Rain Go Away!

by Shirtless Tom

shirtless-tom-4.jpg

[ed. note: wtf, Shirtless Tom! What’s a shirt doing in this picture?]

Well, we had yet another rain filled Sunday at McCarren Park Pool but as always we still had a blast.

Cub Scouts represented and played even better than the Care Bears at times.

The line up was cut at the last minute from 4 bands to 3 due to a travel issue, but the three that played were good. I can always relate to the lyrics “I put some whiskey, in my whiskey”.
Some of the females that played dogeball this Sunday were the hottest of the summer and according to that female vote Ben H@ynes wins hottest male.

This next weekend is going to be huge.

The only Hip Hop line up of the summer rolls through featuring AESOP ROCK!
See you there.

OMG WTF LOL ROFL

by nicole

That is totally how Tuesday night went. So much fun!

I guess we should start by running through the real game- Kubb was awesome! Who knew that throwing sticks at sticks in order to throw sticks at a spiky stick could be so fun? Everyone seemed to hit their stride after the first game & the end result was victory for Heeb & L’Oreal!

kubb_recap.jpg

After that, the 50-60 of us with our new status as Kubb aficionados wandered over to Blondies to destroy some wings & light beer. The room was crazy crowded as the wings were finished and indigestion set in. Faster than a flash of lightning (and I SWEAR I am not exaggerating) tables were pushed together, empty dishes were thrown at the poor, naïve clearer guy & cups were filled up to the first line with beer.

This is where we see the teams’ true colors come out. L’Oreal initiated the games with their red- faced competitiveness and challenged the Onion. Unfortunately, even with ‘ringers’ on their side, the team lost the round to the dismay of their semi-captain who missed the whole ordeal during one, short smoke break.

More rounds were played, Heeb put up a good fight against SonyBMG who ended up playing L’Oreal, a much anticipated rematch after the Kubb loss. After that, it was getting late, the Onion team slid out quietly leaving Justin as the lone green t-shirt yet again.

Matador & Fader next week!
Long live Kubb!
