SEATTLE: WEEK 1 RECAP

by kip

After guarding the bases from spritely, rambunctious children and clueless tourists, Teams KEXP, Frog Design, Seattle Weekly, and Bumbershoot were ready to play some ball under the Space Needle.

Bumbershoot came prepared after reading the smack talk posted by KEXP on the Team Saucony Originals blog, and KEXP was not joking. Clad in short shorts and eye black, their intimidation could be felt throughout the Seattle Center. But was this enough? After trailing 1-0 for several innings, KEXP’s frustration culiminated in a surprise wrestling attack on their opponents (or was it the other way around?). But Bumbershoot prevailed having scored the only run for the whole game.

Down two players, Frog Design graciously adopted two members from the begrudging Seattle Weekly who made their displeasure known with threats of job termination and scandalous emails. But the Weekly had plenty of reason to be mad. Their traded players were making key plays for Team Frog Design, the catcher alone making six outs in three innings. This turned out to be the Weekly’s undoing as they lost by some amount of unknown runs. Never again we will see them participating in acts of good sportsmanship.
