If someone wins, then someone must lose. Team KEXP once again has graciously filled that position.
First round saw us “borrow” a few fine folks from Seattle Weekly to compete against Bummershoot, oh, I mean, Bumbershoot. Cyrus’ scary side once again reared itself after a couple of questionable calls, all in Bumbershoot’s favor. I suspect he may have been right on a couple of them, too bad we don’t have instant replay. ((Really guys, how much did they pay ya?))
Round two was Seattle Weekly. We tried our best, really we did, but sometimes your best isn’t good enough.
It was a fun start. We are looking foward to Whiffle Ball and the additional team members that we’ve recruited. I won’t say ringers, but we may just win next time around.

Trivia was a fun time and a good stretch of the grey matter. KEXP was lean and mean, three strong, but ready to take on the most challenging questions.

Jack impressed us all by knowing the height of the Space Needle. We were awarded a half point for our answer 605 feet (see below - #4) because we where a few feet within of what the “official” trivia answer was of 603 feet.

After doing a little research I confirmed that 605 feet WAS the correct answer.
I submit as proof the following websites as sources:
With that half point I believe we would have tied for third place with Frog Design.
The cartoon round was a little out of our generation range, well, other than the Schoolhouse Rock.

Color us impressed that someone from the Seattle Weekly could sing all the words for “I’m Just A Bill”!
Team KEXP couldn’t help but notice if we had more heads to glean answers from we would have rocked even harder, as the below chart illustrates:

KEXP doesn’t mind being 4th out of four teams. Thanks to the beer for helping to put things in perspective.

It’s hard to believe that next week is the Championship game. KEXP is looking forward to making a BIG comeback!

The wind was strong that day, chilling to the bone. But neither the wind, nor the KEXP team, could deter we mighty Bumbershoot Hot Dogs from what we came to the Seattle Center to do: WIN.
As we tossed the ball back and forth before the game, we could feel our blood begin to boil, despite the approaching gusts. Our eyes grew wide, then red, finally retreating to slits as we focused in on our prey and eventual conquest. We knew none could stand in our path, regardless of DJing skills.
We took the field enthusiastically, with impenetrable defenses repelling all KEXP attempts at scoring. This was our field, and we made certain they knew it. With repeated catches, beans, and strike outs, we Hot Dogs set the tone of the game. At bat we were a force. Our line drives and aggressive base running tested KEXP’s limits of how much abuse one orange-shirted team could take.
When Peter ‘Sweet &’ Lowe stepped up to the plate, we knew it was finally over for our record spinning opponents. As he banished the ball into the stratosphere with a hollow thwack, he brought home the solitary run of the game, ushering in our thus-far perfect record.
We only feel sorry for the next team with the audacity to oppose us, for we are less a team now, and more a staunch athletic machine, without weakness or mercy.
Go Hot Dogs!
