We Huffed and We Puffed and We…Lost Another Game
by schwartz - 08/10/09Mascot Lucy actually stole the bacon Things aren’t looking good for “Team Mighty.” We arrived at Boston Common in all of our Saucony finest (despite the new city location Jeff “Downtown” Benanto was conspicuously absent) confident that we would steal the bacon and, more importantly, steal back our pride.
We had good reason to be optimistic: Newly-off-the-market Tim Whitman was on hand to make his “Mighty” debut, Maddy Shedno brought her fighting spirit (and Zazz refreshments) and we had a fan (former Schwartzer Nicole Huie) and a mascot (Lucy, who can rock an impromptu pet carrier like no other).
Still, it was not to be. We had some moments: In between waxing poetic about Tahiti’s sunsets Whitman made some great plays, Megan Prock and Zach Servideo, facing aggressive opponents, channeled their inner cave[wo]man to endure the pressure and Justin “I’ll advise you on your trip” Drake was clutch, continuing to play like Papi on steroids even after being dubbed the Mighty’s MVP.
Despite these triumphs, victory remained illusive and the Mighty were once again defeated. Here’s hoping that next game (which will see the return of the aforementioned Downtown Benanto, Nick “You’re a little pitchy, dawg” and, assuming things didn’t get messed up on his gmail calendar, Brian “I’m not sorry” Kramer) will be a better day for the Mighty.
