Team Saucony isn’t your typical sports team. It’s a league of true Originals. It’s a place to come together and play the sort of sports that don’t require cleats, pads or helmets. It’s less about the goals you score, and more about the hang.
Dodgeball at the McCarren Park Pool Parties!

The game of dodgeball brings up a myriad of unpleasant memories for me. It was always the game we played inside the elementary school gym when it was too cold or too rainy to play outside, and for some reason our gym teachers allowed ALL of the grades to play together! My scrawny 7 yr old self was competing against the 5th grade jocks - what kind of injustice is THAT?! I always got picked last and “out” first. Now that I’m a little bit taller and slightly braver, I’m going to challenge myself to put the trauma of gym class behind me at the McCarren Park Pool Parties, held every Sunday this summer in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC.
Saucony’s going to be manning the dodgeball area at the Pool this summer. Come out to compete for free shoes and other swag! If you’ve ever been to one of the parties, you know that the dodgeball court gets INTENSE. I don’t know if it’s people like me, acting out repressed rage against every kid who ever hit them in the face by a dodgeball (or kickball, or volleyball…), or if it’s people who are taking this game totally seriously - but does it matter? It’s ridiculously entertaining to watch, and looks slightly painful and actually FUN to play.
Oh, there will also be amazing bands playing every week, and its FREE, FREE, FREE.
